INDIANAPOLIS – March 26, 2026 – INDY NXT by Firestone driver James Roe today announced a strategic partnership with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), aligning his personal journey with the theme of the 2026 BIO International Convention: “Driven by Purpose.” The partnership will bring this theme to life through Roe’s story of perseverance, using his platform to highlight the shared values of resilience, innovation, and purpose that define both the elite motorsport and biotechnology industries.

Roe drives for the 17-time INDYCAR Champion team Chip Ganassi Racing, and his No. 8 Topcon car will carry the BIO logo across six INDY NXT races from March 28 through June 7, 2026, with the branding also featured on his helmet for two events. Extending beyond the track, Roe—and a custom-branded show car—will appear at the BIO International Convention in San Diego. On June 24, he will take the BIO Storytelling Stage as a featured speaker, sharing his journey of overcoming asthma while competing at the highest levels of motorsport. The show car will be on display on the exhibition floor throughout the convention.

“This partnership is about more than racing,” said Roe. “I’m proud to work with BIO to help raise awareness of the challenges patients face every day and highlight the incredible innovation happening in biotechnology to improve lives. On track, we’re constantly pushing for performance and precision, and that same drive for progress is what I see in this industry. To represent BIO in the car is something that connects my personal journey directly with what I do every weekend.”

Living and competing with asthma, Roe has emerged as both a patient advocate and a powerful example of determination under pressure. Through this collaboration, his journey will help connect the realities of overcoming health challenges with the groundbreaking work of scientists, researchers, and patient advocates around the world.

“James’s story embodies what it means to be ‘Driven by Purpose,’” said John Crowley, President and CEO of BIO. “His resilience and commitment to overcoming personal health challenges reflect the same determination we see every day across the biotech community. We’re excited to work with James to highlight the power of biotechnology to improve lives, and to share his inspiring journey.”

The annual BIO International Convention, which will take place June 22–25, 2026, is the world’s largest industry gathering. It brings together thousands of global biotechnology and biopharmaceutical leaders over four days for networking, programming, and partnering opportunities. This year’s theme, “Driven by Purpose,” celebrates the industry’s unwavering commitment to solving the impossible, pushing boundaries, and achieving better outcomes for patients, public health, and the world.

Roe enters the 2026 INDY NXT season with multiple podium finishes, a pole position and a track lap record at Iowa Speedway to his name. In addition to his open-wheel focus, Roe also competes in endurance races in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and recently completed a full season in the Asian Le Mans Series.

Sebring, FL (Mar 22, 2026) – James Roe’s three-race stretch was sandwiched with his IMSA sports car outing this weekend in Florida, where he competed with Lone Star Racing in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring alongside Scott Andrews and Lin Hodenius. In their Mercedes AMG GT3, the trio finished P4 in the GTD class after completing 318 laps, and staying in the top three throughout most of the race. Roe and his teammates were within striking distance of a podium late, just a small gap shy of third in a dramatic run to the finish.

“Really enjoying these IMSA endurance races with the Lone Star guys! We were P2 much of the day, but unfortunately Scott got tapped by a fellow competitor and put us back a bit. But we are a podium team for sure and I can’t wait for the next one. For now, we concentrate on INDY NXT in Barber next weekend.”

After the first two rounds of the IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Championship, Lone Star Racing is currently third in the season standings. Roe competes in five of the 10 rounds, known as the Michelin Endurance Cup, where the team will be looking to sit atop in the GTD class.

Arlington, TX (Mar 13, 2026) – As the 2026 racing calendar ramps up, James Roe is preparing for an intense stretch with three major events on consecutive weekends across two premier series. The run begins with INDYCAR’s debut at the Grand Prix of Arlington, then continues with IMSA’s legendary endurance challenge at Sebring, and concludes at the technical INDYCAR road course of Barber Motorsports Park. The demanding schedule will test adaptability, focus and endurance as Roe shifts between cars, tracks and race formats in just a few short weeks.

“Three races in three weeks across INDYCAR and IMSA is a huge challenge, but it’s exactly the kind of stretch I look forward to. Arlington, Sebring and Barber are all very different tracks, so the key will be staying sharp, adapting quickly and making the most of it!”

As part of Merlo’s interactive booth experience, attendees will have the opportunity to test their skills on racing simulators and compete head-to-head against Roe throughout the week.

“Beyond excited to have Merlo aboard for the full season,” said Roe. “Our partnership immediately clicked last year, with a great contingent of folks who came to our Milwaukee race, along with a visit to their HQ in North Carolina. I look forward to integrating them into our racing world even further.”

Merlo America represents the Merlo Group in the U.S., supporting its Dealer Partner Network with versatile machines, a wide array of attachments and expert product support across the construction, agriculture and forestry industries. Daytona Beach, FL (Jan 25, 2026) – James Roe delivered a strong performance in his second appearance at the iconic Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, finishing a strong P6 in the 21-entry GTD class. For the grueling twice-around-the-clock endurance classic, Roe drove the No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Texas-based Lone Star Racing, and shared the ride with co-drivers Lin Hodenius, Ralf Aron, and Scott Andrews. In front of a record-setting IMSA crowd, the event saw fluctuating weather conditions, including intense overnight fog that caused a 6.5 hour full-course caution.
“It was a great P6 finish in Daytona,” said Roe. “It’s the toughest event of the year and we were on the lead lap the whole race, had perfect pit stops and no penalties. That’s how you win and we can make something out of that! The whole Lone Star crew genuinely did a mega job and it was a great weekend overall. Also, the fans in IMSA are amazing! What an awesome record-setting crowd and glad we could put on a good show.”
With Daytona complete, Roe now heads straight to Dubai for Rounds 3 and 4 of the Asian Le Mans Series, followed by the championship finale in Abu Dhabi on February 6–8. Then after a short break, Roe shifts to his primary focus INDY NXT by Firestone.
