Roe Closes 2026 Season with P4 at Petit Le Mans

Indianapolis, IN (Oct. 5, 2026) – James Roe closed out his 2026 racing season with a fourth-place GTD finish at Motul Petit Le Mans, capping a strong year of IMSA endurance competition with Lone Star Racing and the No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3. The 10-hour finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta featured changing conditions throughout, including rain, lightning delays and a record number of caution periods.

Roe charged from 14th to fourth during his stint to help put the No. 80 in contention. Despite late-race pit lane challenges, Roe, Luca Stolz and Lin Hodenius finished just off the podium, giving them their second P4 finish of the season. Lone Star Racing’s consistent campaign of top-ten finishes also contributed to Mercedes-AMG securing the 2026 IMSA GTD Manufacturer Championship.

James Roe: “Petit was a crazy race from start to finish, but we kept fighting all day. I had a really fun stint and we definitely had a shot at the podium. It’s tough to come that close, but still a great way to finish the season for the whole Lone Star crew. I’ve really enjoyed being part of the program this year and I’m proud of what we accomplished. A big thank you to the entire team, my fellow drivers, and all of my partners for making this season possible.”

Roe Closes Busy 2026 Campaign with Petit Le Mans

Indianapolis, IN (Sept. 29, 2026) – James Roe will close out his 2026 racing season this weekend at one of sports car racing’s biggest events, joining Lone Star Racing for the 10-hour Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Roe will share the No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Luca Stolz (DEU) and Lin Hodenius (NLD) for his fifth endurance event with Lone Star Racing this season. The weekend also marks Roe’s final race of the year after wrapping up his INDY NXT campaign earlier this month.

The IMSA season finale will take on the challenging 2.54-mile, 12-turn Road Atlanta circuit, with the race beginning in the afternoon and continuing into darkness.

“It’s been a busy year and I’m excited to finish it with the crew at Lone Star,” said Roe. “I’ve really enjoyed being part of this Mercedes-AMG program and getting immersed in sports car racing this season. Petit is obviously a huge event and a tough race, so hopefully we can put together a strong weekend and end the year on a high.”

Saturday’s Motul Petit Le Mans takes the green flag at 12:10 p.m. ET. NBC will carry the opening three hours beginning at noon, followed by NBCSN from 3-10:30 p.m., with flag-to-flag coverage on Peacock. International coverage is available through IMSA.tv and IMSA’s Official YouTube channel.

Roe Set for Three-Race Sprint to Close INDY NXT Season

Indianapolis, IN (Aug. 27, 2026) – James Roe is gearing up for a busy finish to the 2026 INDY NXT season, with three races packed into the next two weekends. The final stretch begins in Milwaukee, before Roe and Chip Ganassi Racing head west for the season-ending doubleheader near Monterey, CA.

First up is the historic Milwaukee Mile, where Roe returns to oval racing for Sunday’s 90-lap event. The No. 8 Topcon driver enters the weekend with confidence after a strong test at the one-mile oval just a few weeks ago.

From Milwaukee, the INDY NXT crews make the quick turnaround to California for the season-ending doubleheader at the Grand Prix of Monterey. The weekend shifts Roe back to road-course racing at the challenging 2.2-mile WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, highlighted by its iconic Corkscrew. The event also carries extra significance for Roe and longtime partner Topcon, which is headquartered in the Bay Area.

“Really looking forward to these next two weekends and finishing the INDY NXT season on a high,” said Roe. “We had a strong test at Milwaukee a few weeks ago, and I always get excited to go oval racing. Then we head straight to Laguna Seca, which is always a special weekend with it being a home race for Topcon. It’s essentially three races in 10 days, so it’s going to be a busy stretch, but the CGR team will be ready to go.”

The Milwaukee INDY NXT race airs Sunday, Aug. 30 at 11:00 a.m. ET on FS1. The season concludes at Laguna Seca with Race 1 Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS2, followed by Race 2 Sunday, Sept. 6 at 12:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

Indianapolis, IN (July 29, 2026) – The summer charge continues, as James Roe gets set for back-to-back race weekends showcasing his versatility across two different disciplines.

Roe will first rejoin Lone Star Racing in the No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the six-hour Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America (July 30-Aug. 2). The weekend marks Roe’s latest IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup appearance and another opportunity to compete in GT machinery that has be competitive all season.

Just days later, Roe is then back in his No. 8 Topcon INDY NXT machine, as the series heads west for the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland (Aug. 7-9). While both weekends feature road-course racing, the quick transition between sports car competition and open-wheel racing highlights Roe’s ability to adapt between two very different cars and racing formats.

“It’s pretty cool to have two completely different race weekends back-to-back and it definitely keeps me on my toes. But I’ve really enjoyed this season and the opportunity to race in both series. They’re two very different cars and styles of racing, and I think jumping between the two only makes me a better driver.”

Sunday’s six-hour IMSA race takes the green flag at 11:30 a.m. ET, with flag-to-flag coverage on Peacock. And Portland’s INDY NXT race can be found on FS1 at 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Roe’s Summer Race Calendar Heating Up

Indianapolis, IN (July 2, 2026) – James Roe enters another busy stretch of racing, fresh off an IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup appearance at Watkins Glen International, where he competed in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen with Lone Star Racing in the No. 80 Mercedes-AMG GT3. Roe and co-drivers Scott Andrews and Lin Hodenius showed strong pace throughout the weekend, with the No. 80 running in podium contention for much of the race before minor mechanical issues in the closing stages impacted the team’s final result.

Roe now shifts his focus back to INDY NXT competition as he and Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) head to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (July 4-5) for a doubleheader weekend before then making the transition to the high speeds of Nashville Superspeedway (July 12). The two events offer a stark contrast in disciplines, from the technical, flowing corners of Mid-Ohio to the intensity of racing on the 1.33-mile concrete oval outside Music City.

“This summer is busy and intense, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Roe. “Really loved being back in the IMSA mix with Lone Star and Mercedes, and we have a couple more endurance rounds later this year. But ready to be back in my INDY NXT wagon. We just had a great test on the Milwaukee oval where we were P3. And now off to Mid-Ohio where the temperatures will be tough, but we’re ready for the challenge.”

Roe Heads to New York for Next IMSA Endurance Race

Indianapolis, IN (June 24, 2026) – In addition to his INDY NXT campaign with Chip Ganassi Racing, James Roe returns to IMSA competition this weekend for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International. Roe will co-drive the No. 80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 alongside Scott Andrews and Lin Hodenius, looking to build on the team’s strong fourth-place finish at Sebring in March.

“Ready to get back to some sports car action this weekend,” said Roe. “Really enjoy the endurance races with the Lone Star guys and love driving the Mercedes AMG. Watkins Glen plays to our strengths and we’re optimistic about our chances for a podium.”

Qualifying streams live on Peacock Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, with Sunday’s race airing flag-to-flag beginning at noon ET on Peacock. Roe’s Busy Summer Race Schedule Begins in Detroit

Indianapolis, IN (May 28, 2026) – James Roe and Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) jump into back-to-back INDY NXT weekends as the series heads to the streets of Detroit (May 31) before making the quick turnaround to the first oval the season at World Wide Technology Raceway (June 7). Following the early May road course race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, these next two events will challenge drivers in completely different environments — from a tight and bumpy downtown  street circuit to the fast-paced intensity of short oval racing.

“Detroit is one of the toughest races on the calendar because there’s no room for mistakes on the tight and technical track,” said Roe. “Then to immediately switch gears and head to an oval the following weekend is challenging, but also pretty fun for the drivers to showcase the varied driving styles. I’m really excited for these next two weeks in the No. 8 Topcon car.”

As the grueling summer portion of his season begins, Roe remains focused on building momentum in both his INDY NXT and IMSA programs. After the St. Louis oval, Roe will have a weekend off before the INDY NXT doubleheader at Road America (June 20-21), then straight into an IMSA sports car weekend at Watkins Glen International Raceway (June 28), then right into another doubleheader INDY NXT weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (July 4-5).

Positive Gains in Indy

Indianapolis, IN (May 11, 2026) – The iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course was the scene for Firestone INDY NXT’s doubleheader weekend, and James Roe saw good progress from the developing Chip Ganassi Racing program.

“Top 10 finish in the first race on Friday was a positive step for the group,” said Roe. “We had a crazy start that put us on the back foot, but then the rains came and the No. 8 Topcon car was one of the fastest cars on track. I think we passed 12 cars in the space of about 20 minutes. Was encouraging to see the pace is there in varied conditions.”

“In Saturday’s race, had an unfortunate end to the weekend with a mechanical issue forcing us to retire. But we continue to build on our team learnings, and more track time helps us move forward as well. We know we can have a good day when we put it all together and we’ll work hard to do that for Detroit in a few weeks.”

Roe next battles back-to-back race weekends, starting with the streets of Detroit on May 31 and then the oval at St. Louis’ World Wide Technology Raceway on June 7.

The 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone season is broadcast on FOX Sports platforms, primarily FS1, with select races on FS2. Live coverage includes all races, plus practice and qualifying sessions on FS1, FS2, and the FOX Sports App.

Roe Ready for Indy Doubleheader Weekend

Indianapolis, IN (May 7, 2026) – This weekend, James Roe and Chip Ganassi Racing head to the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a pivotal INDY NXT doubleheader on the IMS road course. Race 1 goes green Friday at 4:00 PM ET on FS2, followed by Race 2 on Saturday at 2:30 PM ET on FS1, with both races also streaming on the FOX Sports app.

“It’s been a few weeks since our last race in Barber, so we’re eager to get rolling in Indy,” said Roe. “This is one of my favorite circuits and I’ve had a lot of success here with a podium and a few starts from the front row. As we continue to grow the INDY NXT program for CGR, this doubleheader weekend will be a good test of our progress.”

Indianapolis also begins one of the most demanding stretches of the season, as the next three events in a row will test drivers across all disciplines of racing. Starting with the IMS road course, then the bumpy streets of Detroit, and finally the oval at World Wide Technology Raceway outside of St. Louis. Roe is looking forward to building momentum across this unique trio of race weekends, and heading into a strong summer of both INDY NXT and IMSA racing.

Roe Announces Partnership with Biotechnology Innovation Organization 

INDIANAPOLIS – March 26, 2026 – INDY NXT by Firestone driver James Roe today announced a strategic partnership with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), aligning his personal journey with the theme of the 2026 BIO International Convention: “Driven by Purpose.” The partnership will bring this theme to life through Roe’s story of perseverance, using his platform to highlight the shared values of resilience, innovation, and purpose that define both the elite motorsport and biotechnology industries.

Roe drives for the 17-time INDYCAR Champion team Chip Ganassi Racing, and his No. 8 Topcon car will carry the BIO logo across six INDY NXT races from March 28 through June 7, 2026, with the branding also featured on his helmet for two events. Extending beyond the track, Roe—and a custom-branded show car—will appear at the BIO International Convention in San Diego. On June 24, he will take the BIO Storytelling Stage as a featured speaker, sharing his journey of overcoming asthma while competing at the highest levels of motorsport. The show car will be on display on the exhibition floor throughout the convention.
