Roe Announces Partnership with Biotechnology Innovation Organization
INDIANAPOLIS – March 26, 2026 – INDY NXT by Firestone driver James Roe today announced a strategic partnership with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), aligning his personal journey with the theme of the 2026 BIO International Convention: “Driven by Purpose.” The partnership will bring this theme to life through Roe’s story of perseverance, using his platform to highlight the shared values of resilience, innovation, and purpose that define both the elite motorsport and biotechnology industries.
Roe drives for the 17-time INDYCAR Champion team Chip Ganassi Racing, and his No. 8 Topcon car will carry the BIO logo across six INDY NXT races from March 28 through June 7, 2026, with the branding also featured on his helmet for two events. Extending beyond the track, Roe—and a custom-branded show car—will appear at the BIO International Convention in San Diego. On June 24, he will take the BIO Storytelling Stage as a featured speaker, sharing his journey of overcoming asthma while competing at the highest levels of motorsport. The show car will be on display on the exhibition floor throughout the convention.
“This partnership is about more than racing,” said Roe. “I’m proud to work with BIO to help raise awareness of the challenges patients face every day and highlight the incredible innovation happening in biotechnology to improve lives. On track, we’re constantly pushing for performance and precision, and that same drive for progress is what I see in this industry. To represent BIO in the car is something that connects my personal journey directly with what I do every weekend.”
Living and competing with asthma, Roe has emerged as both a patient advocate and a powerful example of determination under pressure. Through this collaboration, his journey will help connect the realities of overcoming health challenges with the groundbreaking work of scientists, researchers, and patient advocates around the world.
“James’s story embodies what it means to be ‘Driven by Purpose,’” said John Crowley, President and CEO of BIO. “His resilience and commitment to overcoming personal health challenges reflect the same determination we see every day across the biotech community. We’re excited to work with James to highlight the power of biotechnology to improve lives, and to share his inspiring journey.”
The annual BIO International Convention, which will take place June 22–25, 2026, is the world’s largest industry gathering. It brings together thousands of global biotechnology and biopharmaceutical leaders over four days for networking, programming, and partnering opportunities. This year’s theme, “Driven by Purpose,” celebrates the industry’s unwavering commitment to solving the impossible, pushing boundaries, and achieving better outcomes for patients, public health, and the world.
Roe enters the 2026 INDY NXT season with multiple podium finishes, a pole position and a track lap record at Iowa Speedway to his name. In addition to his open-wheel focus, Roe also competes in endurance races in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and recently completed a full season in the Asian Le Mans Series.
The INDY NXT by Firestone season is broadcast on FOX Sports platforms, primarily FS1, with select races on FS2. Live coverage includes all races, plus practice and qualifying sessions on FS1, FS2, and the FOX Sports App. International viewers can watch via Sky Sports F1 and INDYCAR LIVE.
