Nashville,TN.(Wednesday, August 2, 2023)- From the cornfields of Iowa to the honky-tonks of Nashville, Irish driver James Roe is ready for the change in scenery as the INDY NXT™ by Firestone series heads to the Music City for the second Firestone Music City Grand Prix.
Roe will take his No. 29 Topcon Andretti Autosport machine for 35 laps on the 2.17 mile temporary street-circuit. Drivers will pass Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, at one of the tightest parts of the track in turns 3 and 4.
Part of the track also includes two long straightaways across the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge, making Nashville the first motorsports course of its kind in the world to cross a major body of water.
“I’m excited for Nashville,” Roe said. “It’s a fun, tricky track in a city with an incredible atmosphere. I was happy with the qualifying pace we showed in Iowa. We just need to keep pushing to move up in the championship.”
Roe currently sits in eighth position in the INDY NXT championship with 187 points for his partners Topcon, CES Power, Strong Roots, Ring Power Corporation, The Ireland Funds, and GAAPP. The 24-year-old is just six points out of seventh place and is primed to move up in the championship with a strong finish in the Music City.
