Racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in USF2000 followed by Watkins Glen in F2000
Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin – May 9, 2018 – James Roe Jr., of Naas, Kildare County, Ireland will have a very, very busy weekend. He will compete in four races over three days at two of America’s most famous circuits. First, on May 11th and 12th Roe Jr. will drive for Swan-RJB Motorsports at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in his USF2000 Series debut. Immediately after the conclusion of Saturday’s second USF2000 race, Roe Jr. will fly to Watkins Glen to drive for ArmsUp Motorsports on May 12th and 13th in the 3rd and 4th rounds of the F2000 Series.
USF2000 Opportunity at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
For James Roe Jr. to race in the Indianapolis 500 is a career goal. He’ll get his chance to see the legendary circuit up close and personal sooner than he expected. USF2000 team Swan-RJB Motorsports contacted Roe Jr. to drive in this weekend’s Royal Purple Synthetic Oil Grand Prix of Indianapolis supporting the Lupus Foundation of America races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“We are looking forward to working with James at the upcoming USF2000 races at Indianapolis,” offered Mirl Swan, Team Principal and Lead Engineer. “He comes highly recommended by Indy Lights driver Aaron Telitz after they tested together a month ago. James has previously been running in the highly-competitive Formula Ford 1600 series in the UK, with great results! I’m well aware how tough that series is, and it will be exciting to debut James in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship to continue his promising career!”
“This is an amazing opportunity for me, one that wouldn’t have come about if not for Aaron Telitz and Fred Edwards,” Roe admitted. “Aaron called a week ago and asked was I free to drive at Indy and explained what was going on. I immediately jumped to the opportunity and cannot thank him, Fred Edwards, Mirl Swan and the guys at Swan-RJB, enough for this. I also have to thank Gregg Borland from ArmsUp Motorsports for letting me do this, as it clashes with our F2000 race at Watkins Glen, we are aiming to do both. It’s going to be a huge challenge this weekend, but I am really looking forward to it.”
F2000 Rounds 3 and 4 at Watkins Glen
Immediately following the conclusion of Saturday’s USF2000 Race 2, Roe Jr. will board a plane and fly to Watkins Glen for Rounds 3 and 4 of the F2000 season. Currently 4th in the points, and coming off a podium at Road Atlanta in his F2000 debut weekend, Roe Jr. has high expectations for Watkins Glen. After experiencing some mechanical issues at Road Atlanta that hindered maximum performance, the ArmsUp Motorsports team worked tirelessly to identify the problems and sort the car out for Watkins Glen.
“Watkins Glen will also be a huge challenge, the plan is to fly straight up after the USF2000 event is over jump straight into the F2000 car for qualifying,” Roe Jr. said. “It will be a big game of catch up considering I have never seen the track before but I have never been so excited about taking a challenge on!”
Keep up to date with James Jr.
